From January to May the Milan concert season stays mostly under cover, at the Unipol Forum in Assago (and the Unipol Dome), the indoor arena south of the city. This is the season of the international tours that play arenas, from Olivia Rodrigo to Gracie Abrams, along with the big names of pop and rock.

The Unipol Forum and Unipol Dome in Assago
The covered arena serving Milan is in Assago, to the south and outside the Milan city boundary. You reach it on the M2, the green line, at Assago Milanofiori Forum. The convenient places to stay are along the M2 heading south — Famagosta, Romolo — or the centre, allowing half an hour on the metro. Staying near San Siro for an event at the Forum makes no sense: they are on opposite sides of the city.

When a concert ends, Assago Milanofiori Forum station backs up, and the M2 runs less frequently late at night. Anyone staying along the southern M2 is home in a few stops; anyone in the centre needs to check the last departure.

When to book
On big tour dates the southern area around Assago and the centre both fill up. The practical rule is to book as soon as the official concert date is announced, not as soon as you have the ticket.
